I guess the saddest part to me is we've had plenty of OL issues in the past due to injuries, but we can't even use that as an excuse this year.

Yes, Lewan is out, but the OL that we've had starting the entire season has remained the same and healthy. They just suck.

Caveat: Mariota isn't helping them by getting the ball out quick and cannot escape a sack if his life depended on it.

Mularky hid the fact that this guy was average at best.

This. Guy looks good when he has inside leverage. It’s dealing with even the most average pass rushers when they use an outside move on him. That’s why they had tight ends lineup next to him and chip them inside his rookie year.

Which is why I think you put him at guard where he has someone to the outside of him, he should do well.

He also at times get over powered when the defender just bull rushes him with some speed. Dude is a guard like you said he's no tackle.

We started the season with Douglas at RG who is our 3rd stringer because of injuries to Pamphile and Davis....so yes it has been the same group, but only out of necessity.

Honestly, I would shake it up some and just see how it goes. I would personally try a game.. Lewan Conklin Jones Saffold Kelly (in that order). I dont want Saffold on the blind side with the way he is getting beat so he would be RG. I think Conklin is an average RT at this point, but as a guard I think he would be good, maybe even very good. In which case I would play him on the blind side, LG. Jones is doing better than many fans are giving him credit for. He seems to be holding his own. I think Kelly can be as good if not a little better than Conklin at RT.

It isnt like shaking it up some could be that much worse. Douglas has to be out of the lineup either way.

I love the hype a project, small school RG is getting who also happened do miss all of camp is getting. He’s gonna come in and save the day!

It’s such a Titan thing to put a hope and prayer on a project Rook already by week 4!
I’m guilty of doing this with Lavelle Hawkins.
I quickly learned my lesson and now play the waiting game.

It's the Oline, AND Mariota.

Fans understand there are problems elsewhere and having a **** line will kill all 3 of our QBs.

The fanbase is desperate for a fix and hope any change will work.
FIFY

I get that Davis is not about mariota. I hope the kid comes in and plays well, and is a building block for the future.

But it's not going to be the salvation of the season. This season is done. It's purely a question of draft pick at this point imo.

2008 titans OL
Arguably the best titans OL in a single year (no PFF required)

LT Roos - 16 games 2nd round pick
LG Amano - 16 games 7th round pick (and weakest of group)
C Mawae - 15 games FA signing, originally 2nd round
RG Scott - 16 games 5th round
RT Stewart - 16 games 4th round

Looks very similar to our current OL by draft/FA signing except not performing.
Needless to say, this is why titans fans get excited for a no name 4th round pick. We’ve had success with that.

No you didn't. This is about Nate Davis, not Mariota.

That's what this thread is about.

I made a statement about the Oline, then Mariota was interjected into the conversation.
You referred to the problem and worded it relieving MM of blame in your statement. I get this thread is an OL thread but that was in response to a MM comment, not a thread comment.

Point is, it is ALSO MM that’s at fault and to a certain extent, he’s making the OL look even worse than it already is.

No I didn't.

Back up to the beginning.

I posted about Nate Davis and this awful Oline. Then I either posted again about it or that's when the initial reply came and interjected Mariota.

There's an entire thread devoted to Mariota... he does not belong here.

It's getting pretty tiring...

Shocking who is involved.

Fair enough, must have missed an earlier post or 2.

ABC went off, of course.
Yea. The hates extra strong with him. At least now most are on the same side as him just not to the extreme.
I mean extreme like an extreme sport. We have people that want MM gone but he’s extreme MM gone.
