Best movie of 2015 IMO.

It reminded me of the other modern Frankenstein film "Splice". Too bad Splice didn't have the same director.

The Hateful 8:
Tarentino. Western. Mostly a one-room stage a la Reservoir Dogs. Excellent. 9/10 , one point deducted for a couple of examples of obligatory extreme violence special effects porn a la "Hobo With A Shotgun". Lots of great grindhouse references, including opening credit stylings ("Filmed in PANAVISION") and closing credit "shakiness". A repeating gag with a broken door was cracking the audience up, and while trying to catch my breath I pondered what an odd form of comic relief it was. Brilliant!

Watched The Martian last night. 8 out of 10. I really liked the movie, but my only complaint is the story just got slow and boring toward the middle, and then picked up again toward the end. It was definitely worth the DVD price!

My complaint - 1 solid hour of scientists performing mathematical calculations.
Ugh - you're on Mars, so let's see friggin Mars!
I don't need to see a 5 minute scene of potato counting.
Matt Damon is a potato.
Give me Angry Red Planet or the first Total Recall over this all day..

That's how the book was, so they were trying to bring that aspect of storytelling to film. However, I agree with you. Thought the Mars visuals were great but we didn't get to see enough.

Cold in July. A very good little thriller from 2014. I somehow didn't even know this existed until a few days ago. Definitely would recommend it.

Also saw Burnt. It was not very good.

I'm using Kodi with the G-Box Q. I like it enough. Sometimes it can be a b*tch finding a player that plays the episode or movie but when it's a completely free service, I really can't complain.
