The team has upgraded every single position and everything they can to help him. If they prove that they can play elsewhere, yet are "trash" when playing here, I'm going to look at the lone constant variable in the situation as possibly being the problem.. Especially when the line didn't exhibit the same issues when Gabbert was in, and he even outplayed him during a few games despite being awful

Why do you think we have so much talent on this roster? This roster isnt close to being as talented as the top tier teams. To ignore the rest and just criticize the QB position is a stretch to say the least. You speak highly of Jon Robinson but the guy came to a situation where a GM would love to be in. Had couple of draft picks to build the roster and did decent enough, although not great he did alright. But lets not pretend that we have so much talent to be a SB conteding team, because that isnt the case.

We had the #3 scoring defense last year. What wins championships? Not 11 TD QBs. And no GM wants to go into a situation where they are stuck with a bad QB.

EXACTLY, at least half this roster is just happy to be getting paid.

Peyton Manning 2015
2249, 9/17, 59.8%

I suppose you’re right 11 TD don’t win SB.

I know, Brock osweiler held it down for 7 games, he threw 10 more.

Wow. Even for the marry fairies, this is lame. A QB at the absolute tail end of his career plays half a season, almost matches martys total for a whole season, and wins a super bowl. This we can live with lame ole Mary.

Please.

I'm thinking if we make the wild card it's still bye bye marcus. His inconsistency for the 2 years have been excusable and our run game had carried the load some what. If Jon can sort a high draft pick before draft night marcus ain't getting signed. Maybe tagged but no multiple year extension.
The run game? Have you watched any games? Henry only showed up the 4 weeks of last season, Lewis was a huge disappointment.

This wasn’t a defense of MM post. If anything, I’ve stated on many occasions that I don’t care if he goes because of the amount of upgrading that can happen at QB.
This is defense of the defense. Invest in a good D (really that Denver D had Ware and Miller and a bunch of alright guys that benefitted from Ware and Miller).
You can win with marginal QBs and it’s been proven just a couple years ago but also in 17 with Bortles reaching the final 4.
Even Tennessee experienced it in 08’ unless you want to say we were winning thanks to KC and VY.

The comment was made that you can’t win with 11 TD QBs, 2015 broncos proved otherwise.

Titans fans- " Our line sucks!! They had a bad play"

PFF- "4th best O line"

You guys expect things to be perfect. Like Cosell said, you can have the best line in the league, but you still must be able to play with bodies around you. Mariota can't do it. As for Tannehill, most of those were with the backups against Pittsburgh' s starters so what did you expect

ABC: “But the o lines PFF grade was amazing last year”.

Also ABC: “No coach or GM uses PFF grades”

OK. Fair enough.

But that doesn't mean you overpay the ever living hell out of your mediocre scrub qb. That would impede your ability to build this dominant defense. You let him walk, or likely hobble in this case, out the door and get a rookie for cheap. 11 TD marginal qbs are easy to find.

Way to paraphrase what I said. I said "PFF QB rating". I can buy into something which simply judges whether or not a lineman did their job and blocked someone vs a. grading metric for a position as complex as QB which has proven itself to be a joke many times

I didn’t paraphrase anything. I posted a screenshot lol. You trust their grades only when it suits your argument. Good idea.

And you simplify and separate things into black and white when it suits yours. Good idea. Anyway, I just posted what their grade was for the line and compared that to the simple fan's opinion. I'm not going to say that it's definitively the 4th best line, but it's clear that people need some perspective because PFF isn't the only source indicating that it's better than you all try to make it out to be

And I look and see that we invest both a draft pick and a lot of money in a FA signing to try and upgrade the O line. We replaced 40% of our O line. I’d say we had a problem there last year.

How many of those replacements are taking a starting spot? 1?

Which is completely independent from the QB issue, which was also addressed in the case that we experience it again

Agreed. I am absolutely not in the camp of paying MM. I actually like the suggestion of franchising him if he does happen to put it together this year to force him to repeat before a long term contract.
