gabbert sucks, no doubt.

but we didnt get pressure AT ALL all season, its not just this game.

derrick morgan had 0.5(!) sacks and i think orakpo had 1.5.... and they both retired.... edge is a huge issue. at least 1 opposite landry is needed, regardless of how the week 17 game went.

2 combined sacks from our starting 2 edge rushers is worse than terrible.....
Yeah, this is the issue. We had no pressure from the outside at all last year and had to rely on a lot of blitzes to get to the QB at all. That's fine sometimes, but if you rely on that, you're going to get burned on the back end too.

Landry looks to be good, but he needs to step up. Wake is not even close to a long term answer. Correa is fine against the run, but not a pass rusher, and Finch was just marginally ok as rotational backup.

We don't just need depth at edge, we need a starter. And edge is one of those positions you don't really find starters at in the mid/late rounds. Those guys are generally only found in the top 2 rounds because that position requires so much physical ability.

Interior DL, on the other hand, can be found in the mid-rounds. Casey himself was a 3rd rounder. Also, you rarely need more than 1 or 2 DL who can rush the passer because most of those big body guys come off the field in nickel packages anyways. You need more of a OLB/DE hybrid type in our defensive scheme, not an Aaron Donald.

I actually turned on the week-17 game vs Luck last night, its scary how bad our rush was. Luck had all day to hammer us.

Look at this bull chit!

But only 6 passes (17%) went more than 15 yards. If those are his 2nd & 3rd reads inside of 15 yds or behind the LOS then he has the slowest receivers in the NFL.
Either that or there's a ton of improv going on with those receivers, who are finding ways to get open once their designated route is complete.
Either way, when the chart shows only 16.7% of completions are beyond 15 yards, and only 2 are beyond 20 yds, that doesn't indicate he had a ton of time.
Quite the opposite.
It looks more like his receivers were helping him out tremendously.

Luck is probably the most precise QB in the league. The WR just has to execute the route, and Luck will put it right on his hands, regardless of coverage. Hence why Ebron went from a bust to an All-Pro

Ebron was a bust in DET?
He's been in the league 5 years and has more than 2,100 yds receiving from a QB NOT named Luck.
He caught more passes per game in 2016 with Stafford/DET than he did last year in Indy with Luck.

Are you sure you really understand how this passing and receiving stuff is supposed to work?
There may be classes you could attend that might help.

Right, he was so great that Detroit let their top 15 pick walk to sign a contract for pennies elsewhere. And yes, considering the players selected after him, he is considered a bust.

Stafford is one of the most productive QBs in the league. he didn't get those numbers with a scrub at QB

This is the thread you are looking for

If we want to win the division we have to hit the QB hard and often (saaaaaaack)...………..period. Edge is the best way to accomplish that.

Given that we have had visits and workouts with at least 13 edge guys with a wide variety of different grades, I would say that the coaches and GM think it is a HUGE need.

considering that 1 of our OLB's is 105, yeah probably lol

You draft a guy to learn behind Wake while he still has tread -- Winovich, Walker, Oshane, etc.

We sure as hell need Edge help along with another DT to pair with Casey. Wake is going to be a good rotational player on a snap count. You need another young stud opposite of Landry to groom.

Bosa is a heck of a player but can he stay healthy? He and his brother have issues staying on the field. I wish there was another J. Kearse out there
