We’ve been remarkably lucky thus far without any major injuries. We’re due.
I think we’ve been really smart actually about limiting reps for vets and being overly cautious with any little ding. Survive the preseason seems to be the modern NFL mantra.

Inevitably someone gets rolled up on and loses a knee

Glad Jonnu back but Firkser has come on in his abscence. Not sure Smith a lock to get more snaps than Firkser.

I mean, I haven’t been focused on the TE position but really Firkser hasn’t really popped out to me.

He got that holding call, and he mad that nice catch in the patriots game and that’s all I can recall so far for him.

What makes you think he will get more snaps than a fully healthy Jonnu?

Is it his blocking?

Yes I know he's very important but last season he showed signs of father time getting to him. Back to the subject, is Jonnu out # 2 TE or is that Firsker
I think it would really depend on the package. I could see him being #3 if we're going run heavy.

I think Smith is our #2

He was last year anyways

I think it is a competition right now. Smith ran some wrong routes and had some drops although he did clean it up just before his injury. I think he is is slightly more athletic than Firkser and Firskser is slightly more reliable. I'm interested to see what happens.

Jonnu wasn't a good blocker last season so I hope he's better now

Common problem for a young TE. Very rare to find a rookie or 2nd year TE that's a good blocker. It requires major strength to block who they're asked to take on.

Smith was knocked for his bad blocking. That's why he didn't get more snaps.

Still better than Firkser

Jonnu still had the most snaps out of all TEs, despite missing 3 games. He had almost 4 times the snaps Firkser had.

There's no questioning Jonnu's talent and abilities; he's fast, has size, good hands and was coming into his own last season before his unfortunate injury. I love it that we have 4 very capable TEs.

Jonnu is superior athletically, and it’s not even close. Firkser however, has proven to be very reliable and catch anything his way. Something Jonnu struggled with last year.

If Jonnu can put it together, he could take Delanie’s place in the next couple years. I like Firkser though, he’s done well for someone that just a year ago ppl didn’t really think he would make the team.
