Well I think its time for a unified thread to chat about the glut of looming free agents on this surging Titans squad and how we could afford them. Personally, I love most of this group and would very much like to see the core kept intact. Unfortunately we have 4 players playing at a high level at premium positions. Tannehill, Henry, Ryan and Conklin will all see numerous suitors on the open market unless we can get some long term deals going.

Titans Top 2020 Free Agents:
Ryan Tannehill
Derrik Henry
Logan Ryan
Jack Conklin
Wesley Woodyard
Dennis Kelley
Kevin Pamphile
Tajae Sharpe
Leshaun Sims
Anthony Firkser
Mycole Pruit

Titans projected salary cap: 62.7 million

Not bad, but more space could be made through some cuts:

Cam Wake - 6 million
Delanie Walker - 6 million
Dion Lewis - 4 million

Could also save 8 million by cutting Butler, but he's been playing well.

Also, for the first time in recent memory, the Titans could use the franchise tag and have several players worthy of it.

Resign the top 4 the rest can go especially Lewis!!! Although I like Firkser and feel like Woodyard should retire a Titan!!

I like firsker, Kelly- both should be pretty inexpensive since they’re depth.

I like Sharpe too but he may test the water for money.

If I remember reading the other thread like this correctly, our ST ace that caused the fumble today, Bates, is also done with his contract.

Edit: oh, this post was also agreement on the first 4.

According to the Avenger's End Game, Cap could be too old to play. But Goldie Hawn's son is taking up the mantle and was a darn good QB in 22 jump street.

Top 4 for sure. Some of the others shouldn’t be that expensive since they are depth player. I’d like to keep Kelly, Firkser, Sims and maybe Sharpe if they sign a team friendly deal.

If we resign Tannehill and Henry, we probably won’t have enough to resign Ryan and Conklin. Not without making some cuts. And even then, probably just one of them. Someone probably has to go.

Tannehill damn near has me believing, but he better be worth it. QB free agents are expensive. Drafted QB’s are not. You can get a few good players for what Tannehill’s contract will cost.

62mil is a lot of cap room. We can sign quite a few players with that money.

Really hard to say... Ideally, if every single player was willing to take the right value contracts, I want to resign almost all of them.

Most of the contract negotations wont be made public so it will only be in hindsight we can really judge who should have been signed or not.

If we can get Tannehill in the 20-23 mil range, sign him
If we can get Henry for 9mil or less, sign him

Re-sign:
Ryan Tannehill (21M)
Derrick Henry (15M)
Jack Conklin (12M)

Re-sign if very reasonable:
Logan Ryan
Leshaun Sims
Dennis Kelley
Tajae Sharpe
Firkser/Pruitt

Let walk:
Wesley Woodyard
Kevin Pamphile
Marcus Mariota

Cut:
Dion Lewis
Delanie Walker (hope he retires)
Cam Wake
Ryan Succop

Draft/FA focus:
Edge
OL
Young backup QB
Speed Receiving weapon
Backup RB

With the guys I've said to sign/cut/walk, we would have about 26M for free agents and draft (not including however much they increase the cap).

Need a second back in there somewhere, but otherwise, spot on.

With 62m in space we should be able to sign the top 4. Assuming tanny takes a 2-3 yr deal worth 10-15m a year, ryan takes a 2-3 yr deal worth 8-12 per year, conk takes a 4-5 year deal worth 10-15 and henry take a 3-5 year deal for 8-12m a year. That's 36-54m in the top 4. Even if our number hits closer to the 54m area, we still have 8m to sign the rest. I would put my money in Kelly. But he shouldn't cost more than 6-8m. I think we're good to sign our top guys and draft. Furst time in a long tine we've had a roster this good

I would be stunned, if RT keeps this level of play, and only gets 15mil a year.

Yeah, isn't Mary currently getting 20mil for nothing?

I wish the draft happened before free agency opened. Then we would have a more complete picture. For example, if a QB we love falls into our lap, we could sign tanny to a short term deal or even tag him.

Dude....no way in Heck Tannehill takes a measly 22 million per....it will much closer to 30 million per.

Before the trade, Tammy was on a $19m per year left deal.
OKAY, so what. That deal was signed in 2015 if memory serves. In a QB driven league it is what the market will pay that matters. For 2020 season as of NOW, 7 QB have salary cap values over 31 million per. 7 more have cap values over 21 million per. So, in 2020 nearly 1/2 the NFL starters will make have a salary cap value average of over 27 million per. No way Tannehill takes anything under that....no way.

If Tannehill keeps this up down the stretch (and we all hope he does), he would definitely be on pace for $28-30 million/yr or the franchise tag at around 27 million.

Worth it.

I could see Ryan getting $14-15 million/yr at a premium position. I really believe he's planted some good roots in Nashville though and would prefer to stay.

Henry is a workhorse but he's one dimensional in a league that loves versatility. I could see him locked up for $10 million/yr. or even less.

Conklin is a legit, young starting tackle in a league devoid of legit starting tackles. He's gonna get Lewan money almost certainly. $16 million/yr. Going cheap on tackles though is ALWAYS a bad idea.

So that adds up to around 69 million for four guys. I just cant see it happening, as much as I'd love it.

Foles, the guy who was on receiving end of that beat down yesterday, is getting $22 million a year. If Tannehill continues this level of play, he’ll want more than that, and someone will give it to him he makes it to FA. He’s more likely in the $25-$30 million a year range. Henry will likely want something close to what Elliott got, which is about $15 million per year.

After you factor in rookie contracts and depth signings, it will be hard to keep everyone. It could be doable, but the FO better know these guys are worth it.

If we signed tanny for 15mil i would wonder if jrob had magic powers and why he dosnt use them more
