His play has been better since the back half of last year but I still don’t think he’s earning his paycheck. From the team’s prospective outside of LR he’s been solid but in terms of top CBs around the league his play has been ehhhh. I just think his production can be replaced for cheaper money especially with a defense like the Titans because of their front seven. He probably ends up staying but I wouldn’t be pissed if they decided to let him walk either.

you think our front 7 is making our secondary???

I wish we made better use of our salary cap to where Id care about saving money. But thats not the case so why rock the boat. Ryan and Butler have been a top 1-2 punch this yr.

Almost made a sick 1 handed int last week. They'll come
I think they will come, hes playing the ball and not the receiver. But when you do that you better make the play or it will burn you.

Adoree believes in himself so he gambles. At some point tho you have to know your limitations. Hes too hot and cold right now

Not at all, there’s playmakers back there and it helps no doubt but you don’t need top notch Cbs if your front seven can get after the qb. I think we can all agree the backend compliments the front and vice versa. All I’m saying is Butler is playing well but his production isn’t matching what the Titans are paying him.

I’m not saying he sucks and he will probably end up staying, I just expected more from him. Let me ask you this, do you think Butler is overpaid?

Well our front 7 isn’t some pressure machine. They are leaving the secondary out to dry fairly often. Lesser CBs (Simms this week for example) will get exposed often af)

I know youre talking about his overall salary if youre mentioning him being overpaid, but hes only owed $6M this year. So right now hes underpaid if anything.

Next year his salary doubles, at which point he would be overpaid. $13M for his production is pushing it.

But again, if hes not straining our cap then he will stay IMO. Its bad enough Logan Ryan is hitting FA next yr, no sense in making things harder for ourselves by adding Butler to the list of guys we need to replace.

Do you think Butler being out will diminish Logan's FA value? I think it does. He no longer will no longer have the role of playing all over the field. His value came as someone who could play all over the field and was great at it. Some games he looked like a CB/FS/SS/OLB all in one. Now I think his versatility will diminish with Butler being out. Butler probably cost Logan some money.

Logan will hit FA with very few good CBs available so unless he gets hurt nothing will hurt his value. Hes already proven he can do everything.

Butler will probably be gone.

It just makes complete Titan sense, to have this great core of defensive players, then let two walk in free agency and completely decimate the secondary. Incoming 5-11 season next year.

You got the years mixed up. He made 6 mil last year, he’s due 13mil this year, and another $13 mil in 20. So he essentially made 19mil for 16.5gms if we are counting the last 8gms from last year when he decided to show up and this year. IDK, IMO it hasn’t been worth it. Like I said earlier he probably does come back but I just threw out a potential option. It’ll be interesting to see how this off season shakes out in terms of what the plan is with QB,FA’s, and resigning players

im unsure why we would start cutting players cuz we arent getting some perceived "value"... this is TN... we have to overpay for good players to get them to come here and we have tons of space to do it cuz very few of our players make it to their 2nd contract. if we were close on the cap or something we would definitely possibly cut him but we arent. letting talent walk out the door due to feelings about what they should/shouldnt be paid is a recipe for failure imo

we have many needs to fill and finding someone to just plug in and replace butler isnt an easy task

Whatever the numbers are hes not a bad player and we dont need the cap space

I wouldn't be looking to add to our shopping list this offseason. We need a QB, maybe 2 RB's, a TE, maybe a center, and if we cut Butler 2 CBs. FA is usually a good chance to add 2-3 pieces, and the draft the same.

If cap space was an issue then yes dump the high dollar contract, but its not an issue.

I’m not advocating for Butler to get cut, i feel like that is getting lost in all this. For the amount of money he's getting paid he should be playing like #1 cb not just on this team but around the league. That doesn’t mean I’m saying he sucks. I get what your saying regarding the small market and overpaying but because we got the room to absorb his cap hit doesn't mean we can negate his play so far. I was hoping for better play out of him. Next year is going to be a big year for him considering the money he's going to be making.

I feel like the people have unrealistic expectations here.

This is a league where you can complete 67% of your passes and be considered a bad quarterback. This is a league where Corey Davis gets 900 yards in his 2nd year and people argue that he is a bust.

Everything in the rules is geared towards offense. If the wide receiver runs a good route and the quarterback makes a good throw, it is going to be a catch no matter what the CB does. The standard of success for a CB is occasionally making a play.

I know Butler got torched the first few games last year, but since then, he is one of the better CB's in the league. I think coaches and his peers would put him in that category.

Wish we could keep Butler , he’s scrappy but his salary is rich . I really like him but he is certainly replaceable.

If we make the playoffs can he return? I don’t know how bad the break was but surely a broken wrist could be healed enough to play by then. What are the rules about placing a player on IR and bringing them back to the active roster? Maybe the NFL is different, but I figured he could play with cast on.
