After I got over the shock of this pick, considering the other areas of need, it's not as much as a head scratcher as I initially felt. The reality is DeMarco was a shell of his Dallas form last year in Philadelphia and we have no way of knowing if he will regain form. However, trading for him was a no brainer because...it's DeMarco and the Titans gave up very little to acquire him considering he took a pay cut in a restructured deal and a swap of 4th round picks.
So lets say we rolled with just our current RBs without drafting Henry, who straps up if DeMarco continues his slump in TN or worse gets hurt? My take-a-way from this draft is the Titans didn't just go after guys whom they felt are starters. The team have been saying for a few years now the depth on the team is really really bad. Personally I think this draft was about also addressing the depth at certain positions. I personally think Andrews is at least serviceable, but the facts are the RB position group definitely needed an upgrade. Yes the Titans needed to upgrade the WRs and CBs on this team, but keep in mind they've signed a good number of secondary guys to the team in FA. Were there any CBs available with that last pick in the 2nd that could definitely out play the existing guys on our roster? I'm not going to pretend to know that answer. What I do know though is Henry may or may not be capable of outplaying DeMarco, but he DEFINITELY should be capable of out playing EVERYONE else at that position group. So when you look at it that way it's really not such a head scratcher. However, admittedly I was baffled by the pick. Still not sure I like it, but I can accept it.
Other posters talk about having hope for this team. I actually have hope. Honestly, I want the Titans to become a winner again and I have hope that the current people calling the shots are trying to get to just that. That is evident by the amount of changes that have occurred on the team in just 2 months! Are their changes good, bad, or capable of moving this team forward??? Well only time will tell. My take away from the last two months is that the front office may have just overturned almost 20% of the 53 players that dress to play on Sunday between the draft and FA. Lets not kid ourselves folks that's a HUGE change and this new team should look totally different on the field than years past. They really can't get any worse, but hopefully they show some progress and SOON!
