Just gonna throw it out there again of what a wise decision it is to spend first round picks on WR in a run first offense.
I can't imagine that their long term strategy is to have the fewest carries in the league each year. Passing the ball is much more efficient. They're going to need to adapt at some point.

Do they though? 12-5 and success against the best teams in the league including the SB champs.
I’m d say the run first and solid D approach works pretty well, but I’d also make the argument that solid D is the key regardless.

I've always preferred the shut down D and ball control approach. I like physical plodding O that breaks the opposition spiritually and physically. If done correctly, it's the best way.

They're not going to become the Chiefs. But I don't believe they want to remain at the bottom of that list. Not because it's a bad formula, but because it's getting stale and they need to be less predictable. 3 years of basically the same offense is on tape. The hiring of a passing game coordinator leads me to believe they're headed this route.

We are probably overreacting to everything associated with Burks leaving the field. The good news, he came back both times he left. The bad news, Vrabel is probably Not impressed.

It might not be a big deal... but once again.. out of all the rookies and practice squad guys across the league, there is only one rookie who seems to be struggling to make it through practice and it just happens to be our first round pick. I think they really messed up with this pick, but hoping I am wrong.

If it's still asthma it probably happened quite often during practice at Arkansas too, but most practices were closed to the media so it wasn't reported. Much more of a media coverage/focal point in the NFL so everything that happens is going to be out there.

Not a big deal, that’s the purpose of all these workouts etc. Atleast he hasn’t pulled a hamstring, I’m sure he will be in better shape by the time the season rolls around

Starting to get hints of a bad work ethic. You can expect him to show up after every off season over weight, if he plays multiple seasons that is.
Apparently wasn’t an issue at Arkansas. The interest on borrowed trouble is pretty high. Let’s give the kid a chance to come down from the clouds and get settled. I bet he gets progressively better conditioned or acclimated by the day.

No, you’re just not right.

I guess I’ll have to find plenty more examples to continue burying your argument, and I will, because it’s wrong.

You don’t need good WR to have a good running game. Obviously some of the greatest rushing seasons of all time prove that, but you need more and that’s ok. I’ll do it because I’m a man of the people and I know people enjoy reading the statistical proof that proves another wrong.

By the way, I love the subjective addition to your argument not previously identified in the “its a different game than 20 years ago”. I can give plenty of reasons I agree with you on 20 years but quickly disagree at 15 years ago and even so, doesn’t change my point about WR and running game.
So you want the Titans to have crappy receivers? Is that your end game point?

No, they just don’t require anyone, especially one that costs a lot of money.
If push comes to shove and a top defender is available vs a top WR, I take the defender ever single time, not even a hesitation.

You can win with a team full of #2/3 WR, you never need a true #1.
And if the titans have crappy WRs? So what. Hand the ball off to Henry, that’s what the offense is built around. If Henry gets hurt, hand off to the next guy.
The key is play defense anyway.

First round picks are cheap. I agree, you don't need a true #1 to win and paying $20+ per year is cap suicide (unless you have a legit rookie QB), but that's why you take one in the first round. They are cheap... and in a time when WRs are getting drastically overpaid, an added bonus is the 5th year option. That would have avoided the entire AJ Brown fiasco (at least for one more year).

I'm not super sold on Burks as the player, but it doesn't matter if you're a run first team. Drafting a WR in the first is smart. Now let's see if it work out with Burks.
