I've watched the reviews, tying leveling up to likes is ridiculous and the main gameplay is balancing while walking... lol
The main gameplay is stealth which is what Kojima does. Instead of avoiding soldiers in Metal Gear though, you’re sneaking and avoiding ghosts along with people trying to steal your cargo.
Tying leveling up to likes isn’t ridiculous in the scope of the story and the commentary Kojima is making with the story.
On face value the game is delivering items to reconnect America which was destroyed by a yet unknown event to me at where I’m at in the story.
The story is interesting.
Americans apply value to social media “Likes” so Kojima turns that on its face and literally makes Likes currency in the game. It isn’t just likes though. If you want to progress in the game then be kind to complete strangers, people you never even meet. Good message there. There’s a lot of resource gathering for crafting too. Similar to MGS5.
The entire story seems pretty on the nose to me so far.
America is disconnected. You are in a city on the east coast and have to travel to a city on the west coast establishing connections with the people in the middle between the coasts.
Also the event that caused all of this came from the coasts.
That’s all I got so far.
I’m guessing we will be getting commentary on how fractured America is, our obsession with violence as the game also rewards you for not killing. Obvious heavy commentary on social media.
I’ll have to finish it. The story must be completed.
Kojima stretched a simple story about antinuclear proliferation into like 7 games.
