Here's how I think the Titans opening day 53 man will look. This is not what I would do, but what I think they will do.

I'd think we would put Simmons on the pup list, rather than waste a roster spot early season.

Replace Daren Bates/ Dandre Walker with David Long and you have something

Not only will Long be good on special teams but he actually knows what hes doing on defense
 
Also wouldn't mind seeing Cameron Batson make the team again. He was a pleasant surprise when he got called upon

Hes tiny but hes mighty
 
Seems too light at LB. For a 3-4 team, our LBs will be key special teams members. Woodward, Evans, Wake, Landry and Brown aren't playing special teams, so I think there’s gonna be more fillers like the Ashley Palmers and David long’s of the world.

Yeah...originally I was gonna do a PUP list and PS but thought I'd focus more on the roster. I should have left Simmons off since he won't be on the roster opening day.

Having read thru the designations, Simmons will go on the NFI list since he was injured before he was drafted by the Titans. This could open a whole can of worms and I hope the titans don't try to cheap out.

Players on the NFI list don't have to be paid AND don't accrue games played. If the Titans wanted to save themselves some money, they could sign Simmons to a contract and then inform him he won't be paid while on this list. In addition, let's suppose he's not back by December and then stays on the list the whole year. He would not have accrued one season since he was never on the 53 man roster.

I really hope the Titans don't go this route.

Thats not the kind of thing to put your 1st pick thru

Id expect that from Seattle or someone who jerks veterans around to save money.

Yeah. originally I had Long there and Walker going to the practice squad but, we have 3 starter capable ILB's and Bates is already a solid special teamer and backup ILB who knows the D.

On the flip side, we only have 2 starting capable OLB's and one of them is gonna have limited snaps...so I figure the titans might not want to use his backup/part time starter on special teams and Walker would give us a little more depth at that position.

We definitely got a lot of people to compete for special teams roles...especially on D! Long, Walker, Bull, Bates, Hooker, Cruiks, etc.

Gonna be some good camp battles!

Agreed! Might save some money now...but that's a terrible thing to do to a player who - assuming he's as good as we think he is - we'll want to re-sign with us and be a leader on the team.

The Titans at times have been penny pinchers at times.

This shouldn't be one of those times. Plus, we want him to be focusing on his rehab and learning the playbook and getting back as soon as he's healthy...not worrying about his finances because the team is screwing him!

Bates is nothing special, he doesn't play defense, and isnt some all-world ST ace. IMO hes prob gone

I cant really recall JR being a cheapskate. In fact hes kind of too generous with this money, but Id prefer it that way than him trying to get cute and save a dollar.

Keep the players happy who are worth having.

Do you think he can beat out Sharpe? Do you think we'll carry 5 or 6 wr's?

I think we could have seen the last of Tajae Sharpe.

I think Id rather us keep versatile guys like Taywan Taylor, Darius Jennings, Cameron Batson, and maybe even that Ratliff-Williams guy. Hes super versatile. Runs, catches, fields kicks, throws.....

What does Sharpe really do? Not much.

Sharpe runs good routes and has solid hands. Unfortunately for him...we added brown and Humphries to knock everyone else down to #4 wr at best. So I agree, Taylor is a deep threat and shifty and I'd like to see if he can return punts.

I haven't watched Batson enough. Jennings is a good kick returner and got deep so I'd like to keep him. I do like Ratliff-Williams. I think he ends up on the PS but I had a draftable grade on him and think we could use a player with his skillset.

I think Sharpe may not give us enough upside so I could see him not make it. On the other hand, it really depends on what kind of personel groupings we are intending to play out of. 2 wr groupings and I think Sharpe is gone. 3 wr groupings and we may keep him.

Obviously also depends on how quickly Brown can earn a starting role.

I think Brown is just too good not to start. Sharpe is a finished product and not a very good one. Really think that project could be over.

Or take dee liner off the roster like a smart Person would do.
 
Also, I highly doubt we keep 10 olineman. Get rid of dee liner and an o liner and add another DB and Long.
