Seems to me he’s following in his master Bill O’Brien’s footsteps with a power grab. Was so excited about the direction of this franchise, afraid it will end in disaster now. Probably explains why McKenzie left and he only hires yes men.

I wasnt a fan of him heing named head coach at first because of his lack of connections. But Vrabel has made it this far, just gotta trust his plan at this point.

Not a big fan of the HC/playcaller dynamic, regardless of who it is. I like the CEO head coach. There's too much that goes on during a game for a coach to effectively do both.

Especially for a coach who has been known to not handle game time situations exceptionally well as it is.

Not that I think Vrabel won’t be a good DC, I just have my doubts about him doing both.
There’s a reason some of the best HC still have coordinators and they all usually start as coordinators themselves.

Vrabel is more of a leader of men and teacher of fundamental skills and techniques than a play caller or game manager. This isn't a step in the right direction imo.

I’m not sure this is going to be *that* big of a deal.

It’s not like he is going to be in clock management situations calling plays for the defense. Ideal? Probably not, but I don’t think it’s the worst thing.

This tweet doesn’t say anything about him calling plays. Lol relax until all the info comes out fellas.

Yeah the 2 teams in the super bowl would be doing much better with a coach who didn’t call plays.

What has been the knock on Andy Reid his whole career? Game management.

I didn't say it doesn't/couldn't work, did I?

I said I don't like it.

You've been complaining about Vrabel's game management for two years. Do think it will improve, stay the same, or get worse now that he could have more on his plate every Sunday afternoon?

Lots of the best head coaches call plays on one side of the ball, but I agree it might not be the optimal situation for certain teams.

My guess is this is because the Titans want to promote a DC from within, but aren't ready to give that person full control just yet.

Vrabel will call plays or be heavily involved in the D until he feels ready to step back a bit and unleash whoever is next up. Just need that person to prove himself first.

The "off-season" is already full of drama and it hasn't even "officially" started yet. Damn ...
