The trades we do always seem questionable. Last yr we had major holes and needed help at WR and Oline and nothing was addressed there besides signing Correa. Then I guess this yr we have preached Oline has to get better. So we go and trade for a pass rusher. I think its a steal to grab someone who has stayed healthy for all 16 games for a 7th round pick but if u want talent and a good pass rusher, dont u look at Clowney whos available?

unless that phone smelled like cheetos... in which case he is waiting to pass the phone

At no point would the Texans trade Clowney within the division!

no, he is gonna want like 18mil+ and has never posted even double digit sacks. plus add that we would have to pay A TON to get him from a division rival.... and we cant actually sign him until the offseason, so we'd have to pray he doesnt just walk after we trade for him..... no no no no

This is a ridiculous post. If the price is right ofcourse they would trade him to a divisional rival, why not? Its not like one player impacts the outcome of a division.

Does anyone have any idea what the Texans would want to trade him to a divisional rival?

Minimum 1st round pick, and its a 1 year rental with him going to the highest bidder in the next off season

Guys here are like 'trade for clowney' - im sure Jrobs like 'oh yea why didnt i think of that'

Why yes, your post was. It was quite ridiculous.

I dont see how my post was ridiculous? If Texans could get a 1st rd pick from ANY team they would trade Clowney. No question asked. Why would you refuse such a great offer because the team is in the same division? You'd be the biggest idiot of a GM in the league to do such a thing. And its not like Clowney is such a game changer to even have that kind of thought. They arent trading a Von Miller type of player.

1- Teams dont trade in division, because you don't help your division rivals get better

2- would you want a guy that your division rival was willing to trade within the division? That would be a big red flag, bc you dont help your division rivals get better.

If it's a move that benefits you, then it's foolish not to. That would be a mutually beneficial move that benefits both teams that should be seriously considered

Oh man.

Even if it benefits you, if it benefits a direct competitor who you play twice a year, you dont do it. or you want a far higher price for doing so.

Full stop on the part I highlighted in bold.

You're clowning.

You're clowning us, or you're carrying on the family tradition.

I doubt we can afford Clowney.... even for one year, it would mean alot of draft capital surrendered...

Alot of contracts coming up on top of the aspect we still need to bring in other Free Agents as well.... As much as I hate to say it, we're probably riding with our current EDGE depth - and drafting another one fairly high next year since we won't be in the market for a QB...........

We could, if we had any certainty about our qb situation next year. We will either need to spend a lot of money on mm, or a lot of draft capital on his replacement. Problem is, we don't know which.

Personally, I agree with the Texans brass. Clowney isn't worth the elite contract. You don't let elite rushers go unless youre an idiot (gruden).

Trades between division rivals are not as uncommon anymore. With each team having having 16 games per game (meaning, more non-divisional games), intra-division trades have not become an anomaly as much anymore. I think my biggest restriction, as a GM, would be if the BPA is a QB.

And lets face it - majority of GMs are scared to do such a thing because if the outcome is different their jobs are on the line big time
