Welcome To The HFBM Boards
Hockey, Football, Baseball & MMA

Wouldn't mind Boyd but idk if I'd offer him 8 million a year. If we can grab him on a three year to lower his cap hit then fine but I'd rather see us use that cash on the defense.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing what the 49ers want for Deebo Samuel. I know we won't have a third but a 2nd might grab us Deebo for two seasons and a draft pick in return, possibly a forth back.

Ridley, Hopkins, Deebo is a great setup for Levis in year 2.

For some reason 49er coach never seemed to like Auiyk, he is the better wr but deebo better overall player. Deebo just gets hurt to much
Wouldn't it be great if we could draft a WR that performs well, re-signs or someone is willing to send us a first for when the salary demands get to 30 mil per year!

Tyler Boyd is 29. I agree that it maybe better to cultivate a young talent than have our top 3 WRs 29 or older.

I just don't understand it.... Hopkins, Ridley, (Boyd), Burks, Phillips... and Chig....
What are we going air raid and going to throw it 60 times?....
That is a hell of alot of money tied in to a WR room...

Do the math. Pat Mahomes had 401 completions for the regular season.... that is an average of only 23 COMPLETIONS per game....

You really want to dumpload huge dollars into a WR room when you're gonna average 23 completions a game?........ and that's if you're patrick mahomes.... (and most attempts mahomes had was 44 this year.)

Pass on Boyd, and use the dollars to bring in a veteran S to stand next to Amani Hooker - that is a MUCH MUCH MUCH larger problem than WR right now.

And to put in perspective. Will completed 23 passes once (small sample size, but still matters, also OL issues) this season. The comeback vs Miami where it was all throws for 2.5 drives.

If it matters, Burrow was at 36.5 att/game last season before injury.
Not sure the relevance of Mahomes, but if Callahan is bringing Cin to Nashville, that’s probably not far off from what to expect.

Levis averaged 28.3 atts last year over 9 games.

An attempt isn't a completion though.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand *boom booms*

64% (which is a pretty decent accuracy number) of 28 attempts... is roughly 18.

64% of 36 attempts is 23 exactly.

The quality of those 18 completions is pretty important. And the better WRs you have at your disposal, the better quality you are likely to get in those completions.

So we're willing to entirely sacrifice the FS position if it means we're able to pay decent chunk of change for 2 receptions a game? (and at that rate, those two will not be TDs)

Ok, I'll write that note down.

18 receptions

Dhop 6

Ridley 5

Short slot WRs combined 4

All TE’s will get at the very minimum combined 4

We're at 19 right now................ that's without NWI, Boyd, Burks, Pollard, Spears or anyone else...

Will that fluctuate game to game? Of course - but the shear baseline makes signing Boyd or ANY WR for that matter before any FS is signed an unintelligent priority.

You guys are going to make me believe we are actually going to have an exciting offense. And I've fallen for that so many times I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick that football.

Burrow, 24 comp/game.
10 guys that played at least 10 games reached 22 per game.

if adding Boyd improves the chances to reach that mark every game, regardless who actually catches the ball, I’m for it.
Plus, DHop is probably gone next year so it would only be the 3 WR getting paid this year.

You're just proving my point lol. 22 completions per game lol..... that needs spread around between 4 primary WR's, 1 full TE, and 2 pass catching rbs...... solidifies my argument that a 4th WR should be signed AFTER..... we bring in our FS.
