I wouldn't call 5.5 points a HUGE underdog. But we will see how the line moves.

This is going to be a BIG game for both teams. Honestly I feel it’s probably the most important for both of us.

Of the season? How is an out of division game 1 the most important game of the season??

I see your point, but we have indy then Jax right behind it. Going into the indy game 1-0 would take a little pressure off. Going into Jax 0-2 would be panic time already.

My point of view, and I thought about it before I typed it out, is I can’t imagine anything more draining than losing to the Browns after doing so much to improve.

We are a better team, and have been for awhile, we got hot late in the season, things started to click and we have a chip on our shoulder.

And then we lose to the Browns......
Fantastic!

I just feel week 1, against another team that’s ‘hot’ should be a statement game.

Everyone thought the home Oakland 2017 opener was a must win with both teams coming off of turnaround 2016 campaigns. We were awful and lost to a 6-10 team by the end of the year but went 8-3 in the next 11.

At the end of the day it's just one game. If our team can be derailed by losing one game on the road to a stacked roster (who also has a better QB too) then we aren't very good to begin with.

Yep. We win week one, we have a two week stretch vs indy and Jax to take the drivers seat in the division.

We lose week one, we have a two week make or break stretch.

We have to come out of the gate strong thus year.

Any AFC game is "almost" as important as a Divisional game. Our team has never seemed to get that...ever.

I can see us winning 9 games after an 0-2 start.

It's that week 1 game that's gonna get us in the playoffs or not.

Expect the Chargers, Browns, and the Texans to be competing for those wildcard spots with us. Wins vs those teams will be huge...

Yep. That's another factor. We will likely be competing with the browns for a wildcard spot.

If we lose week 1, we are in for another down to the wire, claw for a playoff spot season.

If we win it, hope remains alive that this could finally be the year that we go above 10 wins and take that next step.

Also... Whisenhunt has spoiled the whole "winning the first game of the season" for me.

I now focus on a good record in the first quarter of the season.

Ehhh... I guess. It's so early, though.

We practically aced New England last year early in the season... then they got their **** together after that and won the Super Bowl.
Classic Pats

They treat September like the preseason almost. Then just get better on their way to the playoffs

Week 1 is never a must win.

And lots if goofy shit happens in week 1 across the league every year. Never trust week 1s win or lose.
