Let's talk coffee.

Favorite coffee, cafe, prep?

How do you prepare at home? Press? Drip? Poverty keurig?

I'm a classic french press guy myself. I enjoy light and medium roasts, dark espresso.

The French press just makes the best coffee imo. I grind myself obviously. Haven't made it to roasting my own beans but I'll get there.

I use a poverty blade grinder, I do have a manual burr grinder that works great. French press obviously doesn't require a fine or consistent grind so the blade grinder works fine most days.

My next investment is a countertop espresso machine. I'm kind of hipster and think I want a manual espresso press though.

This is what I'm looking at. Currently sitting in my Amazon basket waiting for me.

It just seems like a really pure way to make quick espresso at home. It hits the proper bars. Cheaper machines do not, they make shit espresso.

Without spending hundreds on a legit espresso machine this seems ideal and just hipster enough for me.

just discovered make your own cold brew.... I lived a deprived life before this knowledge

12 ounces water
1/3 cup ground coffee ( dont be a frog Folgers is fine. Although I am currently going thru a Krispy Kreme bag I bought for someone's kids softball team or some shyt )

mix in a repurposed Mrs. Renfros Habanero Salsa jar overnight.

put a filter in an old school Mr. Coffee and pour the cold brew into it to strain out the coffee grounds. This produces a concentrate that will need another 12 ounces of water, but do it to taste. let water strain into Mr. Coffee pitcher and pour into capped container you plan to put into fridge to chill. I add 2 packets of fake sugar and that seems sweet enough to me.

I make 2 jars at once cause I have a 48 ounce Stoke Cold Brew jug I am repurposing for MY cold brew. Because F Stoke RITP!

simple but have to plan ahead... dont want to be jonesing for some cold brew while the brew is happening... cant run out ... cause this is amazing stuff. The last ounces go into a third Mrs. Renfros Habanero Salsa jar so I dont run totally out.

Coffee: Yuban dark roast cut with Folgers Black Silk decaf (that part is recent). Still caffeinated but not as much. Full caffeinated makes me impatient, short-tempered and often violent.

Coffee is strictly utilitarian for me: for waking up and taking dumps. Also for staying awake on gig nights.

Starbucks is s**t. Period.

Happy Mug, whatever light or medium roast they have.

I used to used a French press, but the cleanup is annoying so now I just use a pour over.

depends on time....French Press is really good. Cappuccino is also really good. I even do Keurig style someday's...like I said depends on time...and mood.

Maxwell House in the Bunn at work. I put two bags of coffee in if I make it. I want that caffeine. Black with two ice cubes.

Grounds get stuck between the filter and the plate.

Rinse and use a butter knife to slide around the edge knocking the grounds out.

Every convenience store tap features a "Kona Blend" and Mac Nut somethingoranother. Kona coffee costs the same here as it does there. There are a lot of local/Hawaiian brands on the shelves.

Black Rifle Coffee Company. Supports vets and first responders and they make some damn fine brews.

But is it roasted within a week of purchase?

Anything roasted further out is poverty.
I’ll look into that. Highly doubt it, but I’ve been satisfied with both their beans and k cups.
