Decorate his stats however you need, but he is not good deep. If he were we wouldn't ask him to throw it deep so little

False equivalence.

Show some misses or stats to backup that claim. I’ve never seen that

Not sure where you got they didnt ask him to throw deep.

Vrabel told Mariota last season he needs to let it rip more. They actually want him to throw deep more. Hes keeping himself from doing it.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel to Marcus Mariota: Let it rip!

"'It's OK. Let it rip!' I am telling him to throw it deep," Vrabel said. "'Launch it. Let it go!' If it gets intercepted, I have to be able to say, 'I told him to throw it deep.' Cut it loose, let your God-given ability take over."

The fact that they told him to go deep was what I was arguing. You said the coaches didnt ask him to throw deep. That's not the case.
Ok I see what you're saying

But hes not a deep QB based on results. He bails too soon for things to develop. Arm strength is also questionable

Taking 28 deep shots doesnt qualify as being a good deep QB

He has a couple tags he needs to get rid of this season.

Injuries are one issue

Being too timid throwing is another. How much of that was due to injury.... I'm not sure but this season hes going to have to take more deep shots

Him not going deep is not an injury thing. If I remember correctly he only took 22 deep shots in 17

He actually used that as his evidence to paint the picture Mariota doesn’t have a deep ball. But how did we even get here lol

This is why I cant count on AJ to break onto the scene the way many are hoping. I do like AJ, just cant trust rookies early.

I also see Vrabel babying AJ due to the hammy scare.

Different players and different offenses though.

Taywan was raw coming out and mostly worked off stuff like bubble screens, jet sweeps and stuff like that.

AJ though was in a more pro-like offense and route running is one of his strengths.

He doesn’t bail fast enough. He’s made every throw. But let’s move the Mariota debate because you know how that’ll go. Will be glad to debate in the other thread

I don't think they team is too optimistic with respect to Taywan. Otherwise they would not have spent on Hump and used a second on AJ.

Idk, JR went BPA every round this yr

I dont think he imagined half these guys he took would be available to him

Be has like a fraction of deep passes compared to other qbs

Coaches don’t just avoid throwing deep if their qb is one of the best or even half decent

Taywan Taylor posted a 2.33 yards per route run last year (22nd in the league) 8.3 yards per target (45th). QBs had a 90.5 rating when targeting him including 3 drops.

Sharpe had just a 1.16 yards per route run (102nd in the league), 6.7 yards per target (85th) and a 63.8 QB rating when targeted. And 3 drops.

They were talking about Wednesday's practice on 104.5, apparently Tannehill through a beautiful deep ball to TT and he legit just dropped it. They were all talking about how he lacks concentration at times and drops too many passes.

I did hear yesterday, that they had TT back returning kicks. I think that would be a good spot to use him. If they give him that job, you don't have to have a dedicated returner and it saves a roster spot. I like that idea if he can consistently catch the ball.
