I still think Crennel for DC isn’t a bad idea and getting a young guy as an assistant to do like QB spy stuff since we gotta go through Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson for the foreseeable future.

ITS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!

1. gotta beat Watson if you wanna play games that matter and get to Mahomes.

2. Who hasn’t been beaten by Mahomes.

3. Our defense has more talent than Texans did and we’re younger.

I can see both sides of this. It’s a risk promoting a young guy but you have to trust Vrabel to make that choice. He has been around Bowen enough and other coordinators enough to know whether he’s ready. Might be good to have a young guy with energy over an older retread. Pees was awesome but was a little too conservative for my taste. Would it be more of a risk to give a young guy a chance or bring in an outsider with experience that’s not familiar with the players or staff? What would be more of a “reset?”

Although it was Pees’s defense Vrabel was still involved in the game planning and to a certain degree had his stamp on it. Vrabs is all about continuity and familiarity so I’d imagine they would keep the position in-house. A lot of the same concepts that worked well will stay along with new ideas. Either way I’m sure Vrabel will make the right call and make it a smooth transition for everyone involved.

only thing that could be worse than this... is Special Assistant to the Kicker..........

Whoever gets handed the keys I hope they are not conservative and dials up schemes that can get more pressure on the QB. We were able to beat the Pats and Ravens because they had no weapons and WR so we were able to focus more on attacking the QB. Couldn't do that with Mahomes. Our new DC gotta bring something strong if we want to get back to the AFC Championship.

If he takes out the prevent defense from the playbook he'll be that much better a hire. I don't care if we got the lead keep laying it on, our offense will bleed clock.

You know that at the end of the first half our defense only gave up two fields goals all season—the only TD was to Mahomes in our playoff game. And we only lost one game where we had the lead at half. All that to say there is a reason coaches run prevent defense and it is because it works a lot of the time.
