Some people seem to have a difficult time grasping the fact that playing with an injury makes serious injury more likely.

Here is a nice column, unfortunately it is behind a paywall but you can get the gist of it from the headline:

Kevin Durant played last night when he should not have, and ended up with a much worse injury than he already had.

Thankfully Mike Vrabel was smart enough not to make this mistake.

Well this is his make or break season so its best he goes into it in as good of health as he can. No more excuses. He has everything he needs to win this season.

I mocked him when he left but that sucks for Durant.

It's not always worth risking it.

nobody cares because athletes aren't real people, their only job is to entertain us. who cares if they risk their careers for a franchise who doesn't care about them in the long term.

True and not true.

Correct, they are not real people.
Incorrect fans don’t care if they get hurt, at least sort of. Example, if I’m a patriots fan, I care if brady gets hurt. Not because he’s a real guy, but because he is largely the cause of winning SB. So fans do care if it effects winning and losing.

Edit: oh and Durant is a sellout.

they get millions and have world class doctors at their disposal, their career is irrelevant to me

no sympathy, it's their job

Of course it made sense to sit.

Having to make that decision continually is what sucks.

LeBron, Kawhi, Giannis, Kylie, Dame > durant. He made the choice to play and knew the potential risk, if you're not 100% recovered and rush back that's your fault. I don't feel sorry for him.

We may never fully know the real story of why Mariota sat out but it had better been because he risked getting an injury that would cost him all of 2019 or his career.

Anything less, IMO, is unacceptable.

Durant is 30 and has a couple of Championships. He has little to prove and has been paid. Big difference as far as potential risk goes.

I still feel Marcus should have been let play 1 drive.... the one where Gabbert threw the INT on our drive-to-take-the-lead...........

You really believe prime KD > prime Lebron?
I would have taken prime KD over prime Lebron. Not saying he was a better player, but a better teammate. Lebron handpicked every player on the team and negotiated their contracts and he is the worst GM ever.
