Our OL is definitely improved but the RG and RT spots are too suspect for me to personally rank them this high. Having the media respect for SOMETHING is nice I guess though.

Hopefully it will be much improved this year, although the right side is still suspect IMO

We were no where near that high last year.

I guess they are banking on Saffold and a healthy Conk being a major boost.

I still wanna see that lineup of Lewan-Saffold-Jones-Conk-Kelly

Big year for Conk. If he can get over this injury, we could be nasty. I’m nervous though, doesn’t seem like the staff is confident yet.

This Oline has been getting over rated for years

Saffold is a top 10 Guard. Lewan top 15 LT, then a bunch of queationmarks... Conk/Kelly are good here and there. Jones is good half the time. RG major questions there

The Saffold signing is easily one of the most underrated signings of the offseason.

I'm actually feeling oddly ok with RG. We've not had great guard play lately, so to bring in a top 5 talent at one spot and let everyone else battle it out for the other makes me feel pretty good about the position. I don't expect Davis to just be handed the job, but could see him winning.

I expect Conk to step it back up this year being nearly 2 years removed from the ACL injury.

I don't think Davis will win the job right away, he has some technique problems, apparently he has a frog stance.

Our best starting group is Lewan, Saffold, Jones, Conklin, Kelly. Whether or not our coaches are smart enough to put that group on the field opening day remains to be seen.

When moving Conklin to guard has come up in the past, it's pretty much always shot down by J-Rob and Vrabel. I think part of it is J-Rob's ego, who used his first ever pick on Conklin to play tackle and doesn't want to see a top 10 pick move positions. I also think part of it is they want to keep Conklin long term and moving him inside might hurt their relationship with him because he sees himself as a tackle, there is more money to be made at tackle and he'd be less likely to resign if they move him.

My two cents anyway.

i think this is more the reason than anything, Conk has been pretty straightforward in saying "I'm a tackle" in interviews. he knows he could just hit FA and probably play LT somewhere and get paid way more. he has the all-pro moniker from that first season, he'll get paid as a tackle one way or another.

Kelly isn't that great

I think the best will end up being:

Lewan -- Saffold -- Levin -- Jones -- Conklin

from the way it sounds jones is a real smart guy at C and he is unlikely to move. thats the vibe i get from bussin wtb at least

Good enough for that

I agree, keep him as a swing tackle
I tend to think the guy cashes in soon and leaves us. He hasnt had much bad tape while a Titan, Someone will probably bet on him and pay him.

That is unless Conklin blows and is let go. Then Kelly stays... All in all we're sitting pretty at tackle right now.

OL men move inside as their careers progress... except for the ones that dont of course.

Matthews played all 5 positions as a starter over his career. I am not saying Conklin is Matthews... but I am not saying that he is not either - LOL
