Because mariota looks like he's running into a wall far too often against preseason defenses who really haven't game planner as of how to stop him. While Tannehill looks like he could, given the circumstances.

How did Mariota struggle? He was 6-9 for a touchdown. And there was a major drop or he would have been 7-9. How did he run into a wall? Tannehill has been fine and so has Mariota. Stop caring so much about being right about Mariota on this board and just pull for your team to succeed.

Because guys are having to fall to the ground and make one handed catches on routine passes. That does not translate into an efficient passing game. Compare that to Tannehill's throws, which hit the receivers in stride. That's why he'll be our starting QB in time.
Funny, you keep on going.. And going.... and going....

I think that his pocket presence and accuracy are still huge issues which affect every single one of the 10 players around him. Our receivers are constantly having to fall to the ground and make awkward adjustments to routine throws. And that's all that he's making- routine throws that any QB in the league should be able to handle . Watch Tannehill making the same throws. It looks effortless.

Mariota is killing any YAC potential and making the catch unnecessarily difficult. I'm sure that Robinson and the coaches are frustrated that Corey Davis supposedly looks like this super star in practice, yet Mariota cannot deliver an accurate ball to him and makes him frankly look very average. While Firkser is looking like a stud with Tannehill and his guys are taking his passes and diving at the pylon.
I'm glad that our 2nd/3rd string TE in Firkser whose playing against backups is getting the same amount of attention from the opposing defenses as our WR1.

I'd say their seems to be decent communication going on...no big delays getting plays in or getting to the line. The standard mix of PSG calls. Not much else to be gathered from the OC perspective other than things ran rather smoothly. It was good to see DW and Brown. Really don't like PSG's. I'd rather the staff pick practice/scrimmage partners.

Well if you want to give him credit for a drop, you probably should take one away for the one handed (way high) catch Lewis (or was it McNichols) caught.

While he was not perfect, he was good enough that if that was the Mariota we saw night in and night out, I would be a Mariota fan.

You are coming around on the fair and balanced thing man. I am right there with you. If he can play like that keep him. If he can’t, move on. I am with you there

Oh I agree completely about YAC. Mariota is awful at ball placement. One of the worst I have ever seen. Even during the drive the other night, the only time he hit a receiver in stride was the TD pass and that was set up for him to just throw straight at the goalpost and the receiver run towards the goalpost. The other 2 big plays he made, he caused the receivers to stop their stride to catch the ball, hence no YAC.

Even still, if he is completing 15 and 20 yard passes with no YAC, that still moves us right down the field.
This is inaccurate, i watched the big play to Davis over a few times, and the ball was placed perfectly. Davis could've caught it hip high in stride, but I believe because he felt the db coming from behind and after the earlier ball being broken up, he decided to come back to the ball and secure the catch, which he did.

The ball was thrown late and allowed the defender to recover and make a play on it. The ball should arrive as soon as he transitions. But Mariota needs to see an opening before he throws it, as he has no anticipation. Which is why he's so limited.
the play starts at 1:27 in this video, Mariota is working the right side of the field before come all the way back left, spotting Davis and delivering a very good ball. Anticipation was not a factor on the play.

Also question for you, did you slide in Dianna Russini's dm's, are you her source?
