You guys act like he's doing it to tell time. I bet he got the watch for free if he wore it during games. Heck he maybe getting PAID on top of it. Its business. The article says there are no rules against wearing jewelry. So he's not braking any rules. Flashy or not, it didn't stop him from catching the ball. Everyone here would do the exact same thing if given the offer.
There are rules against wearing "hard objects". Small chains are fine but if watches were legal, this wouldn't be a story at all because playing in quarter of a million dollar watches would be the norm for a lot of these guys.

I could care less about what he paid or didn't pay for it, or if he wears it all the time. I think it was part of all the Browns hype and how freakin' special they are, like this would be some walk in the park so they could "look good" while trouncing the poor little Titans. Well, all the bling in the world ain't gonna keep Mayfield from throwing picks and limiting OBJ to 7 catches for 77 yards. Titan's D did that! Thank you very much!

"The watch on Beckham’s wrist generated $2.18 million worth of brand exposure for Richard Mille, too, according to Apex Marketing Group."

drop in the bucket
Exactly! I highly doubt OBJ would just do this because... he really likes the watch. All these athletes and celebs understand the value of their publicity, and there is no such thing as free marketing.

They got that much exposure from him just wearing the watch in a blowout loss. I have a feeling if he scored he would of flossed it. $350k is nothing. It easily could of been a million dollar deal just for pointing to it after a TD.

OBJ was gonna do an "Odell Time" TD celebration but malcolm butler smothered him all day.

And that watch company absolutely paid him for it. They are probably furious he didn't get a chance.

Its a Richard Mille...he builds watches engineered to take the shock forces these athletes put on them. Nadal wore one custom made for him when he won the French Open. Bubba Watson wears one...had it on when he won the Masters...had grass stains on it LOL. They are interesting up close but not my cup of tea...

I’m not going to argue this but that’s not how designer companies’ marketing efforts are funded. The values referenced are “equivalent” marketing value- NOT a tangible asset. They don’t just have $350k to throw away on a start up. Either it’s his watch- his money, it’s tangible material worth is negllible, or highly more likely it’s a reproduction. That’s just how a market ploy is funded.

the point is to show that they are designer watches durable enough to withstand an NFL game. they are not going to put a reproduction on him and have it break.

Understood. But they aren’t going to pay (give product) to OBJ of $350k of brand value for that purpose. So either the product’s worth is NOT $350k in market value or even over $50k in material value.

There just isn’t a market for $350k watches that can absorb that overhead marketing cost. The return isn’t feasible.

Ok- I see I am now arguing the points. But today is a different day.

I’ll try again. I really don’t want to argue this point. The truth of the marketing situation is obvious.

This thread full of haters that can't cop a 300k watch for sport.

Get it together.
My wife got me this "expensive" Tag Heuer, maybe $1,200, and most of the white dudes in my office try and hate when I wear it. But the women and cool dudes really dig it.

I have a $50 Casio WaveCepter that is more accurate than any Rolex or Mille Vanille. But like wearing a hat sideways, we've lost the concept of the whole thing.

Yeah! Tag's are dope.

beyond my budget. I rock this cheapo Skagen.

OBJ is just trying to be Floyd Mayweather with this.

Floyd Mayweather could trade one of his many watches and buy OBJ's soul, house, cars, etc.
