It wasn't without its merits but was just a really weird, slow movie. It was basically just Taxi Driver + The King of Comedy + clown makeup. Just kind of a hodgepodge of a bunch of stuff we've already seen before. But it's somehow being hailed as unique and groundbreaking just because it's being done in a comic book universe.
One thing that really bugged me.... I'm pretty sure Joker isn't supposed to be like 35 years older than Batman.
I mean, they had already altered the lore by even giving Joker this origin story. That whole scene just felt so forced to me. Like some idiot movie producer going "We gotta work Bruce Wayne into this movie somehow!". And the whole sliding down the pole thing just to really drive the point home lol.I really enjoyed it, and that did bother me.
would have been nice if they made Bruce like 15 or so, but I’m not sure how they would have made that work since it would have altered the lore.
I'd rather watch Mask of the Phantasm over and over again.I mean, they had already altered the lore by even giving Joker this origin story. That whole scene just felt so forced to me. Like some idiot movie producer going "We gotta work Bruce Wayne into this movie somehow!". And the whole sliding down the pole thing just to really drive the point home lol.
IDK I just have mixed emotions about this one. I feel like, from a technical standpoint, this is a very well made movie. It just never really grabbed me, despite typically being a sucker for anything Batman/Joker. I think that's probably because it really didn't feel like a Batman/Joker movie at all. Like remove the Bruce scene and the fact that he's called "Joker" and it's just some slow burn story about a lunatic clown who kills a few people, a la Taxi Driver. I know I'm probably not explaining my thoughts on this part very well but I'm having trouble putting it into words at the moment. Like it almost felt like this was a totally independent script and then they just tacked on some Batman mythology, if that makes sense.
No I get it, I feel it falls victim to the same thing “Gotham” fell victim to.I mean, they had already altered the lore by even giving Joker this origin story. And the whole sliding down the pole thing just to really drive the point home lol.

It was extremely rushed... SONY was gunning for the franchise.I watched Venom last night. There was a good movie in there somewhere. It just didn't have a chance to come out.
The initial interactions between Eddie Brock and Venom were great. Then the third act started...
Yea this was my opinion as well.I watched Venom last night. There was a good movie in there somewhere. It just didn't have a chance to come out.

Brock was too likable.Yea this was my opinion as well.
It’s like they couldn’t decide between Deadpool or a Spider-Man film.
Marvel has a Tony Stark syndrome problem.Brock was too likable.
Eddie Brock is not likeable.
But that is Tony Stark.Marvel has a Tony Stark syndrome problem.
every man that isn’t Cap or Thor has to be a narcissistic, sarcastic ******* with some sort of personal problem not related to those, that they have to overcome.
Ant man, Dr. Strange, and Iron Man are all the same person.
I rented this cuz this. Was pretty disappointed. Shit just got too crazy.I thought Doctor Sleep was really really fuggn good. I don't get why it didn't get more hype.
