So you are saying it happens. That was my only point. Yes it is rare, almost as rare as not having a DC on your staff. So if that is a concern for our GM, he could make the rare move and intervene.
 
Patty was quite popular in Detroit it seems. But our group is never hasty when someone is fired or cut so...

Idk if it happens and ive followed nfl news as close as anyone since 2 CBA's ago

So it has to be a rare occasion for a GM to make coaching hirings

One sort of exception was the Colts hiring a DC before their head coach.
