Where does it matter he how he got the yards? 3800 total yards is 3800 total yards, whether he ran for 1500 and passed for 2300 or passed for 3790 and ran for 10.
He accounted for 25 Total TDs this year. That's put him just outside the top 10 in TDs. Total turnovers of 13. That's about league average.
I'm not even saying he's a great QB. He's not. But he's world's better than Malik Willis and he's better than several starters in the league right now too.
I get it to an extent, you want him to learn to be a pocket passer as well - as we've seen with Lamar being a prime example, you can only juke and run right by safeties and corners for so many years in your pro career --- and that's not even addressing the rash of injuries Lamar has seen the last 2 years.
But for anyone on this board to say they would not happy with Justin Fields for a few years (and if he pans out to be franchise, even better) with still some mobility tread left on him, a guy who has seen NFL defenses ---- or..... you can go the route of bringing in the QB's behind LEVIS --- like Richardson and beyond...... and set yourself up for a bust anyway....
And the funny thing is, you can't have it all three ways...... We either need to trade for Justin, Lamar, Aaron, etc....... Or sign Tom Brady or some other Free Agent due QB....... or reach for a project like Richardson and others..... I would take any odds that we don't get close to drafting Stroud, Young, or Levis unless we sell our draft future.
So make your decision.
Personally, I would like us to go after Brady - and we can still use our 1st rounder to grab our new LT, and build the OL. That way we can bridge to another year.
But I would be happy with a Fields trade, but the same concepts fall in line with both choices.... you're gonna have to build the OL with any first few picks you have.
Also ---- tag Simmons because just have more pressing things right now - including signing WR that can play on the outside w/ Burks -- Woods is not it, at this point he is strictly a slot, possession guy.
