You need to have a good run game to keep the PA going. Towards the end, they stopped biting. Same thing with the hard count. In the second half they stopped falling for it. We need to mix in some quick snaps.

That's actually not true according to the stats around PA. You don't necessarily need to have a successful run game to execute play action. Denver was committed to stopping the run and not giving up the big plays deep.

Art stopped with the PA even though we were having success with it. It wasn't like they stopped our play action plays and forced us to do something different. We just stopped running them.

On another positive note, Jeremy McNichols didn't look terrible in pass protection. I was worried about that once I saw him in on our first 3rd down play.

And talk about bad ass on the play he almost got decapitated. Great balance and neck strength

We used to lack the mental toughness to win these type of games, from that standpoint, it was also a success.

it still annoys me their defender led with his head while tackling McNick with no helmet.. like wise up kid

By the numbers:

14-0 - The Titans' record when Derrick Henry runs for at least 100 yards. The NFL rushing leader of 2019 ran 31 times for 116 yards for a 3.7-yard average per carry.

There you go feed the king!
19-0 baby!

Henry wasn’t good yesterday but he had a few big big runs late in the fourth when we needed him the most so props for that.

Our secondary cannot let the Jags WRs just run free as much as Denver did last night...Like it or not they have a decent passing game. I am guessing Jags do like Denver and sell out on the run.

After how Henry has embarrassed them back to back seasons yeah maybe they will try to stop him now

Posted in another thread but only one RB had a run over 30 yards in week 1. Teams were just out of sync because of limited offseason. I’m sure it’ll take a game or 2 for offenses to get back in rhythm.

I do think we are the 2nd best team in the AFC. We were more consistent tonight, but less explosive. We need to get that explosiveness back.

lol It’s week 1 in the middle of a pandemic in a season with no preseason. We played a tough defense and beat a team at home we haven’t beat in a very long time that’s tough to beat at home. We overcame missing some serious starters on defense, not to mention the poor kicking.

Some defenses just don’t give up explosive plays. We moved the ball fantastic against a stout defense all night. You take away mistakes by both team tonight (Denver fumble, Titans missed fields and XP) and we still win this game. Everyone is nervous because of the score, but the fact is we won a game that had a crazy late start time against what was a tougher opponent for us while leaving 10 points on the field. We need to settle down on defense and fix our alignment problems but I’m not concerned with the offense as a whole. From what I saw I think we are ok. We will certainly know more in the coming weeks.

All of this is true. A very different set of circumstances beginning this year than any other season. The only lingering thought I had was that the right side of the line really didn’t look good and I hope they are able to solidify and that their “weakness” was the same as the rest of the team and not an indication of concern going forward.

Nailed it.
The donkeys have a great Home opening record because of the altitude advantage. We couldn't have had a harder opening game then this one on a "normal" season , throw in this pandemic and all of the missed OTA's preseason games and it's a recipe for disaster. All things considered I'll take the ugly win.

Cant find anything official, but I didnt realize Taylor returned to the game Monday. Guess hes ok.
