I believe Witherspoon has started all year at sam. I know I saw them use him and Morgan in the nickle. Maybe he was will when Mark Fields played, but he hasn't played much recently (none in 03, started 10 games in 04).

I say pick up David Thornton when the Colts can't resign him since we wont give Arrington/Peterson an arm and a leg.

Peerless Price/Peter Warrick/Koren Robinson - can we turn all that potential into one solid player without problems or attitude? If there was one who would turn into that, a la KVB minus attitude issues, I'd take him. Problem is knowing who that is exactly.

S- Chavous or Archuleta. Don't know if either would work here, but I'd take a chance.

G/C - Steve Hutchinson

One has to think the Colts will focus on re-signing June. I've heard a lot about Edge being gone from their side of the river.

I personally think the whole argument of SAM vs. WILL is pointless. If you have a guy that is fast, instinctive and a solid tackler he can be effective in both spots as long as he doesn't weigh 220. Sirmon, Bulluck, Peterson, Witherspon all weigh within 5 Lbs of each other. And Hawk weighs about the same and everybody says he can play all 3 positions. It is more about attitude. We will make a serious run at one of the top LBs. Reese has clearly stated that that is a priority this offseason.

I see what you're saying but you don't want a guy like Peterson on the other side of Bulluck. That would just make this defense softer and Schwartz would have a field day with this. You need a meathead who just wants to blast people(more Witherspoon than Peterson). I understand the whole speed reference, but you sacrifice attitude for speed which in my opinion, is something we can't do, we need MORE attitude. I'm not saying we take a slowpoke, but we need a complimental player to Bulluck, not a carbon copy.

We will have money to spend. I'm working on my offseason plan, and that will show roughly how much we'll have to spend come March 3 (at least if I was calling the shots).

$15M in free cap space seems like a good round figure if you don't count in keeping our own free agents (i.e. KVB). And that's even having already accounted for the likely rookie cap projection.

I got a question for Starkiller.

If the Eagles cut TO does he have to go through the waiver wire or can he sign with anyone since its the offseason?
As Elf already answered, he'll be a free agent.

Basically, a 4 year NFL veteran who is released (or whose contract expires) becomes an unrestricted free agent. Anyone with less than 4 year of experience has to clear waivers first (or becomes a RFA if their contract just runs out).

Julian Peterson prides himself in being able to line up literally anywhere on the field... the man is one of the most versatile guys out there. I believe he has lined up at all three linebacking spots, defensive end, and safety.

So yeah, he could probably play strongside.

But it doesn't matter, we won't get him.

There is no doubt that he could play all positions just as Keith could play all those positions but could you find someone cheaper to play those positions better? I think you can. In a 4-3 system he is a weakside LB.

Do we really have the cap room to go out and shop this offseason? I realize we will be releasing and restructuring some contracts, but our projected cap space is 10mil over. I don't have a source off the top of my head, but I'll look around for it again.

I'd rather Thornton then June.

Are all 3 starting LB for the Colts free agents? Brackett and June are.

Yes... Brackett/June Restricted and Thornton Unrestricted. I'd love to have Thornton.
