I expect him to do 1000+, however there are more weapons now. So that could eat into some of his numbers

Mary gonna have to throw for 5k for every target to not disappoint gotitans.

I expect like 900 yards from CD. And I'm fine with that, if he makes big plays and doesn't make many mistakes.

this stat isnt what you believe it to be

this is a QB thing, not WR
Every stat can be as meaningless or meaningful as people want for them to be. It indicates that he needed quite a bit of separation on average in order to even get a chance at making a play, esp. compared to the volume receivers around the league whose production we want to see out of Davis.

You dont see Mary throw guys open much, so this isnt on the WRs. It's on the QB waiting too long to throw.

You give anyone time and they can separate from DBs

His game-to-game states were anemic last season. He broke 100 yards twice, and was held under 50 10 times. He averaged 45 yards over his last 7 games.

I'd call him a bust but there hasn't been a 1st round WR who has been worth the pick since the 2014 draft. Shockingly, Corey Davis has been the same or better than 13 of the last 14 1st round WRs (Amari Cooper).

Maybe teams just need to stop taking early first round WRs because unless they become a pro-bowler, they're not worth it.

But anyway, Davis is talented. Hopefully he'll put up solid, albeit replaceable, numbers and make a few big plays to help us win some games. Expecting more is probably asking too much. He isn't TO, or Julio, or even AJ Green or Mike Evans. He's a slightly above average WR if that.

He has superstar potential for sure, now it’s a matter of if he can put it all together and if MM can get him the ball.

The touchdown vs the Pats and the run after the catch before he fumbled at the goal line against the Bengals are examples of Superstar potential:

When he was targeted more than 7 times, he averaged over 100 YPG. It's like the WR actually needs opportunities in order to be productive.

I have no issues with Davis, and like our weapons as a group this year. The problem has mainly been at the other end of the pass hookup. WR don't produce without targets, I don't care who it is.

Id hope that we throw more this year. It's dumb to have invested as much in weapons as we have if we're going to throw as little as we have been.

Tend to think we will throw some more.

We went out and invested in 2 OL, 2 WR, and we never replaced our blocking TE/lead blocker...

The only thing that makes me wonder is; our RBs suck at blitz pickups. So if we do want to throw it more it will have to be timing plays/play action. Which I am all for!

You would think play action would be a huge part of what we do, seeing as how Henry is going to be a focal point. But then I've been thinking that for a while and it never really happens.

His biggest issue is about opportunity. We added receivers that will take targets away from Davis, and during Mariota's career we've attempted fewer pass attempts than nearly any other team.

If things go according to plan next year, Henry will carry the load and Marcus will be efficient and make plays in needed spots. That means less targets and less opportunity for Davis. I voted over 1000 yards, but I won't be shocked if he doesn't make that.

Same

I've been wishing for more PA for ages

Me personally I don't care about his stats.

If he can prove he's good enough to demand double coverage, then that will clearly give Walker, Hump/AJ Brown way more room to work with, plus open up the run game.

He's good enough to be a 1000 yard WR, but we've seemed to have positioned ourselves to spread the ball all over the field now.

CD should kill it this year though as far as big catches. There's enough talent on our offense to give him single coverage in specially designed packages.

Let's just hope Arthur Smith can utilize the talent this offense should display.

ill be a lil surprised if he doesnt get 1k, and disappointed.

guy had 900 last year when we could barely throw it cuz of the tingles, and he was double covered constantly.

1k+ or bust.

Get or squat 1K?

The problem isn't Davis. It's the QB. I voted <1K because I don't trust Mariota to do anything.

My expectations for Davis are low because my expectations for the QB are low.

It'll be a miracle if Davis cracks 1000 yards with limp-wristed Mary throwing to him.

I went with 1k because I expect the 3-4 games Mariota misses will result in around 700 yards for Davis. Then he only needs 300 yards from Mariota over the other 12-13 games.

Turron Davenport has been blown away by Davis. I recently heard a podcast of his where he said that he was the most talented WR in the division-yes, more talented than THAT receiver (who he thinks is the best in the league). He said it not only comes down to QB play, but the play calling, for him to get the kind of production to match his talent. He said TO was a good comp. Kind of looks like it here.

Rolling around on the ground catching balls is the perfect way to prepare for a season of catching balls from Mary.

Can't fault Davis' preparation.
