Sure. But, meat has been a luxury for the vast majority of history. I’m pretty sure I’m not the dumb one here.
It’s long believed that consumption of meat, especially after the discovery of fire, was integral to our evolution.

Sorry Vegans: Here's How Meat-Eating Made Us Human

Are we supposed to be vegetarian?

Evidence for Meat-Eating by Early Humans | Learn Science at Scitable

By at least 2.6 million years ago, a remarkable expansion in this diet started to occur; some hominins began incorporating meat and marrow from small to very large animals into their diet.

Humanity has been an omnivore since it's beginning. It's not just been the last 200+ years... wow you're dumb.

He's right. Most humans were damn near vegan for most of human history. That was because of poverty, not choice. They maybe got a piece of meat on holidays if they were lucky.

They also had much shorter lifespans and were much smaller than modern man. Coincidence? I think not.

Not so much.

You are talking mostly medieval and post medieval Europe, which was a giant dump. Which is why the first European explorers were runts compared to Native Americans. And why so many Europeans wanted to migrate.

Being "Vegan" is only possible with agriculture, it is pretty much impossible as a hunter-gatherer society. and there was thousands of years of human life before the advent of agriculture.

Even then, hunter-gatherer societies and nomad herder societies were prominent worldwide for centuries after.

I was going to put this but DH doesn’t last another 3 years
Hes the only real candidate for this tho.

Lewan is established. Casey is old. Byard is a favorite. Conk is on the fence

Davis might be another one in the BDH category. But Fry loves CD

His response was one of the dumbest things I've read in a long time.
Is that why you deleted your stupid-zzz post about meat being the reason for longer life expectancy? Moron.

P.S. Sorry, Jeff, but the guy is actually a moron.

Apparently, I am. Humans have eaten meat at every meal for 2.6 million years. It's weird that so many don't do the same now.
Your argument was that it was/is a luxury.

I don’t know what your definition of luxury is, but we ate enough of it at one point to alter our DNA.

But there’s veganism and then there’s Veganism—the upper case, ideological veganism, the kind that goes beyond diet and lifestyle wisdom to a sort of counterfactual crusade. For this crowd, it has become an article of faith that not only is meat-eating bad for humans, but that it’s always been bad for humans—that we were never meant to eat animal products at all, and that our teeth, facial structure and digestive systems are proof of that.

Eat or be eaten. Tree huggin' liberals have always had a problem with the rule of the land. Until we learned how to use our thumbs we were easy Dino-food.

Can't beat 'em, join 'em. Who doesn't love a steak or chicken right off the grill?

Not just mideval Europe. Hell, most of Asia through much of the 20th century. Much of Africa to this day.
