Soxcat said:First of all trying to compare EG and Brown is ridiculous. They practically play in different generations. EG stunk from 2001 on. Brown was not an early 1st round pick and his salary isn't the cause of our CAP problems like EGs was. Brown had a terrible year this year for him and his putrid 3.8 YPC was still better than 6 of EGs seasons. The last four years of EGs career he averaged 3.0, 3.4,3.3,3.3. Additionally Brown had more yards receiving this year than EG had in 7 of EG's 9 seasons. In 2004 Brown had 6 100 yard or more games where EG had only 7 in 4 years. Even Antowain Smith averaged 3.7 YPC in 2004 and averaged 4.0 last year with NO. EG have been durable but EG was terrible his last 4 years. So what if a guy is healthy if he can't play well. By the way EG had almost identical YPC numbers his last season at Dallas and Parcells knew how bad EG was and didn't even activate him for 3 of the last 7 games and EG only got 10 carries combined in the other 4 games.
Is Brown as good as EG in his prime. No but EG's prime ended 5 years ago. Saying Brown should not make the team this year is totally ridiculous considering he is still by far the best back we have.
EG's contribution in the passing game should be considered, like all football stats, relative to the O he was in. CB's teams have been LOSERS and LOSERS throw the ball more creating more oppertunities to catch a ball, especially on a Fisher coached team. Taking that into consideration EG's recieving stats were not bad at all and compare favorably to CBs.
