Yup. And he's been injured a lot.

But he has posted some pretty elite blocking grades when he's been healthy/not suspended. It is certainly a risky move, but one with a high reward. And it's a fairly easy contract to move on from.

Gerald Everett to the Charges. Not bad for them. I was literally about to post that I like the idea of doubling up on TEs since we use 3 so often. I went to look him up and noticed he was signed yesterday.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see Pruitt or Firkser back.

I don't get it though. Is it really the player, or could it be scheme/usage? He had so many clutch 3rd down catches. A lot of them, we had very little separation and he was hit immediately. Still always secured the catch. Tanny clearly trusted him.
Edit: His catch percentage actually increased from 73% in 2020 to 79% last year. That's really solid. He just had 10 less targets. I don't think the coaches ever saw him as the "starter". Unfortunately, he also had 3 drops, 2 fumbles, and 0 broken tackles (compared to 1 drop, 0 fumbles, and 4 broken tackles the previous year)
