Candyman will be white this time! It'll be interesting to see how this remake is received. Generally the internet loathes all remakes and would cry about "Hollywood doesn't do anything original! Wah!" But on the other hand, the internet is also all over Jordan Peele's dick. I suspect Candyman gets a pass from the usual ignorant outrage.
I forgot about Fubar, I love that movie
Hard to answer this question since you're saying you and your wife are big horror movie buffs, so it's like, "OK, so then you're aware of the good obscure stuff? Because the stuff that's just obscure generally isn't that good."
Anyways, my top three favorite horror movies are:
1. Hellraiser: Inferno (Scott Derrickson's (Sinister, Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us from Evil) first movie; cenobite fans don't care for it, but cenobite fans can go watch Hellraiser III for all I care).
2. In the Mouth of Madness (Sam Neill is fantastic as John Trent).
3. The Beyond (my favorite Fulci flick)
Beyond that, it just depends on what you're after. Italian suspense? Argento. Italian zombies and weirdness? Fulci. Japanese gore special effects? Guinea Pig. Well-crafted horror movies with moral messages? Scott Derrickson.
I dunno, now I just feel like I'm stating things a horror buff should know. So I'll stop.
My buddy Tom is the bearded guitar player in the band that Dean puts together in the second movie.. and my other friend is (was) the drummer in a band that "Tron" fronted. Apparently there was a big melee and now nobody talks to the Tron guy anymore. I guess Tron isn't so different than the guy that plays him..
