C’mon. He can’t even be contacted until the season is over. Want to get a HC job? You win in the playoffs.
The thing is, as I wrote earlier in this thread, running too much on first down has been a problem for the Titans for a lot of the season. It's been a trend since Vrabel took over as head coach. In the three years Vrabel has been head coach, the Titans have run the ball on first down more than Mularkey did during his tenure and we all thought he ran the ball too much.
The Ravens today were successful in stopping Henry on first down all game. That made the second and third down conversions more difficult as they became obvious passing down. Getting a 10-0 lead actually didn't help because the offense went into conservative mode, exasperating the problem.
The strength of the Titans offense all season has been to get chunks of yards running on first down and then setting up PA strikes down the field. The Titans do not have the OL to be a traditional drop back passing offense. Once the Titans were forced to have to drop back and throw (due to their overly conservative game plan and the Ravens defense), the game was basically over. This team can't flip a switch with no threat of running game.
This game should solidify in everyone's minds just how important Henry really is to the offense. If Henry has a rough game, Tannenhill isn't going to overcome it most of the time.
Yep agreed on all fronts except idk why Vrabel is being blamed for 1st down runs. He controls no part of the offense (except going for 2 and 4th down conversions).
I think Vrabel has more input on the offense than just that.
It's also been a recurrent theme in his three years as HC, the Titans run a ton on first down. When LaFluer was OC, the Titans ran a ton on first down as well. Heck, even the announcers mentioned that one of Vrabel's goals for the game was for Henry to get 30 carries. Despite what some people here think, Vrabel wants the offense to run through the ground game and for the passing game to feed off of that.
Disagree. LaFluer came from an offense that ran to setup the pass. I don’t think Vrabel is the one pushing for 1st down runs. I think the OC’s we’ve had have tried to do that to setup PA.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. But to not be able to adjust is the most concerning thing to me. We have to be able to adapt to what defenses are throwing at us.
Baltimore has a solid defense. Cant underestimate that but today was a pitiful effort all the way around.
So he’s preparing for job interviews instead of how to beat the Ravens last week? Riiiiiight. That’s not true at all. If teams wanted to see him win this game they would have waited for the results before requesting to interview him.
He’s been requested from every single team that has an opening. You don’t think he’s preparing for those?? Biggest job opportunity of his life.
Lol, his best job interview was yesterday! SmhSo he’s preparing for job interviews instead of how to beat the Ravens last week? Riiiiiight.

It also solidifies how important a dominant O-Line is. Ours is middle of the pack and when it’s playoff time, that shows up and hurts offensive productivity. The thing is, as I wrote earlier in this thread, running too much on first down has been a problem for the Titans for a lot of the season.
