This defense would have not fared well in the CFP. As bad as the Tua injury was, losing Moses was just as glaring. Throw losing McMillon again on top of it and you just knew there was trouble brewing after the defense had already started their slide last year. Saban has done a lot to modernize the offense, but it seems the defense has been left behind.Yeah, if Tua doesn't get hurt against Tennessee (and then again against Miss St), I think Bama is undefeated heading into the CFP. But our defense being wiped up before the season started would've made getting through the CFP rough.
Really interesting talent coming in next year, and some guys that didn't get to play this year. I'm just worried about both sides of the ball gelling. 2020 could be another "rough" year, but 2021 we will be loaded with experience.
