I would assume they will, which would open up a lot of playing time for a vet early on.Nash said:Jones may be PUP'd this year to recover from the ACL, I don't think they'll take any chances with him..

Umm, some might said False Start Fred paid off, but I think he only paid off opposing defenses.Gunny said:when was our last offense FA signee that actually paid-off?
Soxcat said:I don't see too many WR FA we can afford that would help us greatly. We would be looking at a guy who is at best a #2 or worse. IMO that type of guy could have helped us more last year but this year the rookies will have another year behind them and Calico will be one year removed from his injury. We don't need another body that isn't an upgrade, we need someone who can actually be a #1 and I can't see us finding the $$ to sign a guy like Wayne.

He could also take either punt or kick returns from Pacman cus Pacman will be tired if he does both return duties and a full time cover corner. Yet, he may be too much money at this point.

It doesnt hurt that Big Ben is not known as a elite passing QB and that Pittsburgs offense is run based. Having Hines Ward across from him, hurts his stats too. That said, Im not sold persuing Randle El, even though I believe he would be an upgrade to what we have already, because our cap money could be used much better.Soxcat said:Randle El is not an upgrade to what we have already. About the only thing he adds as a WR is he can throw an occasional WR pass. He had a whopping 35 catches last year for 558 yards and 1 TD. If we were still desperate for a return guy he might be worth looking at but he is still only a #3 WR IMO.
