I’m not a college junkie and I’ve been trying to look at potential fullbacks. Most believe that the game has passed pure FB’s by, but I don’t think so when I look at our team. Because of the perception of FB’s in today’s game, it seems really difficult to find good information about prospects. Most of what I read purely focuses their abilities as receivers and runners when I’m most interested is if they will keep Mariota clean on passing plays and spring the RB’s for big runs.

I’ve been looking at George Aston. He seems like an impressive FB, but I have trouble finding film on him. I want to see more. He’ll probably go undrafted from what I can tell.

Who do you guys think can fill that role that Lorenzo Neal and Ahmard Hall used to?
 
Yeah I’m not sure we draft one, but you never know. Probably more like an undrafted FA. I’m more interested in people’s take on how a great FB could improve our offense and maybe direct me to some interesting players I’m overlooking.
 
Jalston Fowler has tainted my perception of FB. Not because we couldn’t use one or because I hate them (I love heavy run football), but because we don’t use them or value them properly....
 
We haven't seen Arthur's O yet, so hard to tell if a FB fits in or not.

I'm guessing its gonna be a run heavy O, so FB might fit in nicely
 
Then again, Henry doesnt really need a FB if he just hits the holes going north and south

The key is to keep Henry clean before he hits the line

A FB would certainly help that

But we may also just use a TE like last year

Lot of teams dont even roster FBs these days...
 
Should have kept Jalston Fowler..played with Henry at Bama too

I think fullbacks are underrated. I also think if coach Vrabel intends to build the offense around Derrick Henry as he said, someone will have to fill that role and we don’t really have anyone right now. You don’t think fb is important, that’s cool. Whatever. But look back at Eddie George and Chris Johnson, and they had a bulldozer in front of them.
 
Somebody playing that role is important for a guy like Henry because it takes a few steps for him to get the train rollin’...He’s fast once he gets going, but he needs that hole/split second

TEs arent usually great blockers on the move so that's why some teams still roster a true FB

You gotta be a little crazy to run full speed into 300lb guys for 5-yards a pop.. Plus it's a lost art at the college level.

Shotgun has almost erased the development of the FB
 
Teams will only carry one FB, many do not even bother with that

It is a dying position
 
Troy Fleming wasn't horrible either...

Ahmard Hall was Marine wasn't he?

Go Scout for our next FB around the Armed Forces schools lol
