The Rockets are known for playing “small-ball” but after trading away Capela (their 6-10 center and the only big man on the roster that got any meaningful playing time) for a wing player without getting a center back, they’re taking small ball to a whole new level.
Their line-up last night against the Lakers with a rotation of AD, Dwight Howard, and Javale McGee was:
Westbrook - 6’3”
Harden - 6’5”
Gordon - 6’4”
Covington - 6’7”
Tucker - 6’5” (started at center lol)
That might be by far the shortest starting line-up in NBA history and they end up beating the Lakers by 10.
The Sun created the 7 second offense, the Warriors created the “chunk up 3’s at will” offense. Are the Rockets on to something in the future with this new “no big man” offense and defense?
