A place to discuss the top Guards that will be in the 2019 draft.

As the Titans passed on taking a Guard in 2018 and Quentin Spain being a free agent Guard could very well be a focus for the Titans in 2019.

So, who are the top Guards?

Why do you always talk about one of the least important positions in the sport?

From Walter Football

Michael Deiter, G/OT, Wisconsin
Height: 6-6. Weight: 328.
Projected 40 Time: 5.30.
Projected Round (2019): 2-3.
6/9/18: Deiter was the Badgers' replacement for Ryan Ramczyk at left tackle in 2017 and put together a solid season. He has good size with some athleticism, but he might be a better fit at guard in the NFL. Deiter is going to need to work on his feet and technique to handle NFL speed rushers. He could stand to play with better leverage in the ground game to get more out of his size and weight. If Deiter had entered the 2018 NFL Draft, he would have been more likely to be a second-day pick rather than a first-rounder.

The Big Ten Championship game illustrated that Deiter was wide to return to Madison for 2018. He was not creating a push in the ground game and was reaching after pass-rushers too often. He seemed to be surprised at the speed of a Ohio State's defensive line. Nick Bosa in particular had success going against Deiter.

Michael Jordan*, G, Ohio State
Height: 6-6. Weight: 312.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Projected Round (2019): 2-3.
6/9/18: Jordan broke into the starting lineup as a freshman at guard and showed improvement in 2017 as a sophomore. Jordan should keep up the recent tradition of early-round interior line prospects from Ohio State. He has good size to go with strength and athleticism. After gaining experience and developing, Jordan could dominate as a junior and senior to become an early-round pick in his draft class.

Ross Pierschbacher*, G/C, Alabama
Height: 6-3. Weight: 297.
Projected 40 Time: 5.34.
Projected Round (2019): 2-4.
6/9/18: Pierschbacher started at left guard and blocked well for Alabama in 2017. He is a tough run blocker who opened a lot of holes for Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs and Jalen Hurts in 2016. Pierschbacher has played left guard and center for the Crimson Tide. He is a plus run blocker and should continue to improve as a pass protector. With Bradley Bozeman moving on to the NFL, Pierschbacher will probably move to center as a senior.

Dru Samia, G, Oklahoma
Height: 6-5. Weight: 297.
Projected 40 Time: 5.30.
Projected Round (2019): 2-4.
6/9/18: Samia was the Sooners right guard in 2017 and did a good job of opening holes in the ground while while providing steady pass protection for Baker Mayfield. Samia started at right tackle as a freshman before moving to right guard in his sophomore season. He should gain some weight and add strength to his frame for the NFL.

Derwin Gray, G, Maryland
Height: 6-4. Weight: 336.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25.
Projected Round (2019): 2-4.
6/9/18: Gray was Maryland's starter at left tackle in 2017 and did a solid job on the blind side. Gray has pretty good athleticism for a thick-bodied blocker, and he uses his size to be effective in the ground game. In speaking to team sources, they are projecting Gray to the inside at guard and they have him as a candidate to grade in the first four rounds entering the 2018 season.

You mean super bowl champion chance warmack?
If this is your best shot at selling us on a Guard then you have failed horribly

We are talking about a former 1st round Guard on his 2nd team as a backup now.

Good one lol

Don’t know that much about him other than he’s a big dude and played a lot as a freshmen. Don’t hear much about interior linemen unless they are a liability or an All American which I don’t think he’s either one of those things.

Yea he started as a true freshman, struggled.

I could have sworn he was a tackle tho, but could be wrong. Or maybe tackle moved to guard?

He was a guard and got moved to center this year. The only reason I really remember him is because he was the first true freshmen to start on the oline in a loooooong time.

Yea I was thinking of Prince, who also started as a true freshman

I don’t think Prince started as a freshmen did he? He played but I remember them making a big deal out of Jordan starting as a true freshmen because he was the first since Orlando Pace. Idk maybe that was Prince. I’m going to have to look that up now.

Cody Ford is Oklahomas RT and has said he will enter the draft as a Guard. He should be the top interior OL drafted. Not saying we do it, but improving the interior is certainly a need next offseason.
